Crafting On A Budget

Hiya all! Hope you're doing well and had a wonderful weekend. Mine turned to a silent one after cancelled plans and I've enjoyed it thoroughly. Saturday turned into a pyjama day and Sunday to catching up with some of the neglected have-to-do's at home; watering the kids and feeding the plants! Joke aside, the kids are teenagers and do find their way to the kitchen cupboards, so it was more of filling the shelves! And emptying the pockets!

So, time for a budget saver from the fabulous Faye at the Cupcake Craft Challenges, Recycle! Most of the buttons I use are from discarded clothes, but this time I reused embellies and white card. The green raffia is from a plant school and compared to craft stores it's a wonderful penny saver...and it will last ten years!

The fab image is from Bugaboo stamps and the template for the water can is from our Creations from AR, thank you Bugaboo and Adele!

They're also sponsoring this week's challenge; please visit our blog for the details and to see the teams great ideas for recycling. There's a lot of inspiration!

I'm entering:
Cute Card Thursday: You're A Gem (on the butterfly)

I used:
Alpha Markers for colouring
Glossy Accents
A retired sentiment stamp
Versa Fine Ink
Raffia from a plant school

Hope you'll have a fabulous week with filled shelves and water enough for the plants!

All We Need Is Love

I fell in love with this image from Mo Manning....she's totally adorable, even though she's heartless, he he, she'll grow up and all she needs is love! That's also our theme at Cupcake Craft Challenges this week; Love!!!

We have a fabulous sponsor, Tiddly Inks, who are offering a $10 Gift Voucher to a lucky winner! Check our blog for all the details and to see the teams fantastic work. Wish I had some of their colouring skills!

I'm entering:
Truly Scrumptious: Something Forgotten (the ribbon)
Gingersnap Creations: Supply Challenge Ribbon
Cardmadfairy's Digi Days: Ribbons and Bows
Simply Create Too: Love Is In The Air
Crafter's Companion: Love Is In The Air

The recipe:

Young Miss Heartless was printed with an inkjet printer on to a 250 g Canson aquarelle paper.

She was masked with a cut out image printed on ordinary photo copy paper. I used a townscape image from Mel Stampz to to make a mask for the houses. Use thin paper for the masks as they'll give nicer edges. The sky was stippled with Distress inks (fired brick, worn lipstick, spun sugar and antique linen).

The house mask was removed and it was replaced with the cut out part to mask the sky. The houses and the ground were stippled with chipped sapphire and stormy sky Distress inks.

The image was coloured with Alpha Markers and a Sakura neutral metallic pen. The shadowing was made with Cut'n'Dry pen nib and Distress inks, and with marker pens.

The houses were drawn as in Mel's image with a black Sakura pen. The light from the windows was made with a golden Sakura pen.

The ribbons were coloured with markers and the hearts were cut out with QK nesting heart dies (the small heart die was placed on a cut out large heart). I've borrowed the fabulous Fluffie's idea for how to display the hearts.

Hope you'll have fabulous week full of love!

We All Carry

I saw a lovely spring time card on a blog and thought that why not join the forces against the winter cold and darkness and share a spring card. Love the first purple/violet hyacinths with their green leaves, but don't have any stamps with them so I went with the colour combo paired with white. The small flowers are stamped, cut out and coloured with Marker pens.

I used:
Penny Black music notes and flowers from the Clearly In Love set
A retired neglected sentiment stamp
A fabulous flower I got as a gift, thank you!!!
Colorbox and Distress inks

I'm entering:
Crafty Ctatz Weekly Challenges: Something New (Stickles and design)
My Mum's Craft shop Challenge: Favourite Colours
(homemade flowers, neglected stamps and vintage)

May bright thoughts bring light to your week!

Born On Winter's Day

Hiya all, hope you had a great weekend. I made a new acquaintance at an art exhibition yesterday, Twombly, together with two old ones, Turner and Monet. Fabulous paintings and very inspiring, I'm left with an itching urge to work with acrylics, just for the fun of mixing colours and splash a bit, nothing compared with the great artists' work, more like small children like to play with colours. Simple joys, eh!?

Talking about small children, the card above is for a toddler Born On A Winter's Day; and that's our theme for this week chosen by the lovely Louise at Cupcake Craft Challenges.

We're being sponsored by My Mum's Craft Shop who are offering a lucky winner a £10 Gift Voucher! Check our blog for all the details and to see the teams fantastic work! Sadly our teamie, Rachel, has decided to step down, we'll miss you hun!

Card recipe:
Simon Says Stamp Penguin
Coloured with Alpha Markers
Covered with aqua Flower Soft and Fairy Dust Stickles
Glossy Accents for the beak

Distress Inks and Perfect Pearls
Sakura pen for doodling

I'm entering:

Love Recipe

The first week back at work has been very busy, school starts always are, in a good way! But nevertheless, the weekend feels as an oasis for some blog visiting and crafting! Glad to have you here!

It'll soon be time to for Valentine cards and we have the perfect recipe at the Creatalicious Challenge; we want to see Punched Border, Ribbon, Flowers and Bling. The Love theme is optional.

Check out our blog for the teams fantastic projects, they're very talented! And of course to see the fab prize we have, a Cheery Lynn Doily Die donated by Bizzy Bec!!! Wish I could enter!

Sadly our teamie Kaylou has decided to step down, we'll miss you hun!

The card recipe:
The Penny Black heart from the Clearly in Love set was stamped with Distress Ink and heat embossed with clear fine powder. It works fine, just remember to be quick with the heat gun as the Distress inks dries quite fast. The heart edges and the punched Martha Stewart border were distressed with the ink too.

QuickKutz flowers and Papermania brads were added to the crochet flowers. The ticket from Miss Cutie Pie is stamped with an Exchangeable alphabet.

The music sheet was made by distressing a paper with Distress inks and stamping the Penny Black music notes with Colorbox chalks. The paper under the brown card stock is made in a similar way with a PB border stamp, but it was distressed with the chalk.

The cut out corner was made with a Cuttlebug die and the design paper is a scrap piece (an old Panduro paper).

I'm entering:
Designed2Delight: Include a heart
Penny Black Saturday Challenge: Anything Goes
Stampin' for the Weekend: Out With The Old (papers from the scrap heap)

I would like to thank for all your lovely comments, it really means the world for me! Please forgive me if I don't visit at once, I always make a visit, but when working, I tend to make the rounds only a few times a week. Have a fabulous weekend filled with love!

Hi all! Hope you're doing well, I'm feeling better today, but will stay warm and comfy...the rain is pouring down today and heavy winds are shaking the trees.

Our Christmas lights are still up so why not show a card with a new Christmas stamp; a lovely skating Santa from Joanna Sheen coloured with Derwent watercolours. The shadowing was made with Alpha markers and the edges were distressed with Distress inks. I got a bit carried away with adding Stickles, he he. The papers are Berry Merry and the small flowers are cut out with a Cuttlebug Olivia die.

Happy New Year!!!

I hope you had a great New Years Eve! We had a lovely dinner and could see a lot of fabulous fireworks. I'm down with a cold so no new cards to show, but a good reason to join Debby's Challenge; My Favourite Five Cards of 2011.

It proved to be a very difficult task to chose only five, he he! I'll come back tomorrow and visit all who kindly have left comments this week. And I'm wishing you all the best for this year; moonlight dances, good health, lots of chocolate and time for friends and crafting!
